NatureFinance Davos Speaking Appointments

InTent – Earth Room, 12.00-14.00

The loss of biodiversity threatens the foundations of our society, posing risks to food security, our health and businesses. In order to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030, the nature and climate crises have to be addressed together.Unlocking corporate projects throughout the value chains will be essential to help deliver an equitable, net-zero, nature-positive world. However, working with nature to help meet corporate climate goals or mitigate other risks in the value chain is still largely uncharted territory for many businesses and their senior leadership teams. This session will examine the biodiversity challenges and opportunities and will present various initiatives and approaches to show how Nature-based Solutions can help solve multiple challenges. Click here for more info

• 18th January: Rethinking Regeneration

Livesteam link, 17:30-18:30

Consider for a moment that our entire global economy is fully dependent upon natural systems. Consider further that these are increasingly at risk around the world and are recognised as not being healthy enough to continue to support us. Nature-based solutions which act to protect natural ecosystems that benefit people and contribute to tackling climate change and protecting biodiversity are an opportunity to ensure a nature positive future by providing essential services such as carbon storage, ensuring food and water supplies and buffering against the impacts of a warming world. Market and governance innovations are being built and deployed to accelerate the alignment of global financial flows with equitable nature positive outcomes. Thus, Nature-Based Finance are the next wave of critical and appropriate measures for all of us to not just to consider, but to act upon.

• 18th January: Governing Biodiversity Credit Markets

SDG Tent, Promenade 139 Davos, Switzerland, 20:00-22:00 Co-Hosted by NatureFinance and InTent

NatureFinance and InTent invite you to join a session highlighting progress and outlining possible ways forward in advancing a robust, effective governance model for biodiversity credit markets that secures equitable, nature positive outcomes. Biodiversity credit markets are on the rise, with an impressive range of initiatives showcased at COP15 in Montreal. The spotlight is increasingly on all-important definitions of biodiversity credits and their verifiability, including the use of standard certification approaches and digital platforms to increase traceability. The need for high integrity credit markets is also generating debate including advocacy for broader governance innovations- from proposals for high-level principles to radical disclosure, regulatory arrangements, and new legal frameworks. This dinner event will focus on practical measures, framed by the work being advanced by many actors including the high level Taskforce on Nature Markets.
