Since last year’s Building Bridges conference, the urgency to align global finance with nature-positive outcomes has only grown. Around the world, rising climate and nature shocks can no longer be treated solely as environmental issues. They are systemic financial challenges that demand urgent action.
NatureFinance is working to position nature as a foundation for resilience, transforming how markets value ecosystems and enabling financial systems that reward nature-positive outcomes. By reframing nature as a credit-positive, investable asset, we aim to unite governments, investors, and multilateral institutions around systemic solutions to today’s interconnected crises.
At Building Bridges 2025, held from 29 September to 2 October in Geneva, Switzerland, we will host and contribute to discussions that turn these strategies into practice. As the year draws to a close, these discussions will serve as an important milestone on the road to COP30 in Belém, offering an opportunity to reflect on 2025’s progress and chart an ambitious path for 2026.

Nature as a Shock Absorber: Financing Resilience in a Volatile World
Wednesday, 1 October | 17:00 – 18:30 CET | CICG Room A
As climate and nature shocks increasingly translate into fiscal and credit stress, embedding nature into financial and policy strategies is becoming essential. This event, co-hosted by NatureFinance, ANCA and Vlinder, will explore how finance can harness nature as a “shock absorber” to manage systemic risks and strengthen economic resilience. The discussion will be structured in three parts, moving from real-world solutions to the financial and policy systems needed to scale them. Featuring innovations such as Vlinder’s scalable mangrove bond and restoration model, together with tools like Financial Materiality Assessments and platforms like the Bioeconomy Finance Hub, the session offers a practical roadmap for aligning nature-based solutions with credit-enhancing, investable pathways.
