About the Sustainable Sovereign Debt Hub (SSDH)

The Sustainable Sovereign Debt Hub serves as a centre of expertise for sustainable sovereign financing with a mandate to ensure long-term stable capital flows for Emerging and Developing Countries (EMDCs), aligned with these countries’ climate, nature and development goals.

Originally established to foster the development and scaling of sustainability-linked sovereign debt for EMDCs, the Hub serves as an inclusive, cooperative space, bringing together actors from the entire spectrum of the sustainable sovereign bonds’ universe.

SSDH serves as the Secretariat for the Task Force on Credit Enhancements for Sovereign Sustainability-linked Financing and the London Coalition for Sustainable Sovereign Debt. It convenes technical working groups on a variety of topics engaging across the financial services sector and governments. It also acts as a knowledge-sharing platform to deepen expertise in integrating nature and climate considerations into the sovereign debt markets. SSDH sits within NatureFinance.

Role overview

The Sovereign Debt Analyst & Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator will play a pivotal role in advancing the SSDH’s mission to catalyze sustainable sovereign financing for Emerging and Developing Countries (EMDCs). This dual-function role combines technical expertise in sovereign debt with strategic stakeholder engagement to support the development, scaling, and implementation of sustainability-linked sovereign financing instruments

This position will report to the SSDH Lead and support various workstreams within the SSDH team. Over time, the role holder will independently lead projects within the Hub, ensuring timely deliverables and fostering effective collaboration. The Sovereign Debt Analyst will also serve as the technical coordinator for the Non-Bonded Working Group (NBWG) within the London Coalition Secretariat, coordinating its agenda and managing secretarial functions.

Key responsibilities

Sovereign Debt Analysis & Technical Support

– Develop high-quality content to support SSDH projects and initiatives.

– Contribute to the development of high-quality technical content and secretariat support
across SSDH workstreams.

– Conduct and support research on sovereign debt, sustainability-linked instruments,
and credit enhancement mechanisms.

– Working with relevant team members, translate complex sovereign debt and related
policy concepts into accessible outputs for diverse audiences.

– Provide technical and policy support, including document review, research and
information synthesis.

Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination

– Build and maintain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Develop and coordinate the NBWG (Non-Bonded Working Group of the London Coalition) agenda in collaboration with the working group Chairs and Secretariat Leadership.

– Manage and execute secretarial functions, including organizing and leading WG meetings, agenda preparation, documentation and ongoing member engagement.

– Undertake targeted research as needed to inform the NBWG issues and agenda.Manage complex coordination processes involving senior representatives from governments, financial institutions, and international organizations.

– Ensure effective information flow and consensus-building across diverse institutional perspectives.

– Coordinate with NF Communications and Events Teams to deliver impactful convenings.

Knowledge Management & Communications

– Contribute to SSDH’s role as a knowledge-sharing platform by producing briefs, reports, and presentations.

– Support the development of thought leadership materials that integrate nature and climate considerations into sovereign debt markets.

– Maintain and update stakeholder databases, engagement trackers, and knowledge repositories.

– Oversee project timelines, deliverables, and reporting across SSDH and the NBWG initiatives.

– Ensure strategic alignment between operational delivery and SSDH’s mission while supporting NatureFinance’s broader organizational objectives.

– Facilitate internal coordination and cross-functional collaboration to optimise resource
utilisation and knowledge sharing

Qualifications and experience

– Advanced degree in finance, economics, international development, public policy or a related field.

– Having held previous roles within the sovereign debt markets (5+ years’ experience),
with understanding of the sovereign loan markets, sovereign debt restructuring
dynamics.

– Understanding of GSSS (green, social, sustainable and sustainability-linked bonds, sustainability-linked financing, blended finance desirable.

– Proven experience in multi-stakeholder coordination, especially across initiatives and high-level engagements, including with financial professionals and public sector stakeholders.

– Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of debt structures and policy frameworks. Experience organizing and facilitating workshops, roundtables, and consultations.

– Capacity to contribute to thought leadership, including policy briefs, reports, and presentations.

– Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to produce highquality content.

– Fluency in English is required.

– Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus but not mandatory.

– Proficiency in knowledge management platforms and collaborative tools.

Terms

The role will be full-time, working remotely, with a requirement for a candidate to be located within the UK/CET time zone.

The team member notes that, due to the characteristics of NF’s business and the position, they might be required to make some trips. .
